Arctic Light and Shadow — Lofoten Islands

This collection emerged from an unexpected turn of events during my arrival in the Lofoten Islands as the world grappled with the onset of the pandemic. On my second day, I was informed that all visitors were required to quarantine for 14 days. Fortunately, I secured a beautiful home along the docks of a fjord—a serene retreat where I gladly embraced isolation for the greater good.

Though gatherings were restricted, I was still permitted to explore the islands alone. This suited me perfectly, as solitude and quiet reflection are my natural companions. The stark beauty of Lofoten unfolded before me, with dramatic peaks rising from icy waters and remote villages nestled against the rugged coastline.

The photographs capture the essence of this unique experience. "Harbor Under Arctic Peaks" reflects the tranquility of my fjord-side village where my quarantine Airbnb was located, while "The Frozen Divide" reveals the delicate interplay of ice and water. "Granite Giants of the Lofoten" pays homage to the towering cliffs that define this Arctic wonderland, and "Winter’s Amphitheater" showcases the raw, untamed grandeur of nature.

Through these images, I found solace in the stillness and the opportunity to witness the Arctic’s ever-changing light and shadow—an unforgettable chapter in an extraordinary landscape and historic event.
